ERIC GARZA

THE ATHLETE

Eric Garza’s foundation in performance began as an athlete.

He competed collegiately in soccer for two years at Tyler Junior College before continuing for two years at St. Edward’s University. His playing experience also extended internationally, earning professional trials in Scotland with St Mirren in 2002 and Albion Rovers in 2004.

Those experiences shaped the philosophy that still guides his work today: talent matters, but discipline, preparation, confidence, and mindset are what help athletes reach the next level.

THE COACH

Eric has spent more than 18 years developing athletes through sports performance, strength and conditioning, mentorship, leadership, and personal development.

In 2016, he became Head Strength & Conditioning Coach and Assistant Coach at Paul Quinn College, working with both the men’s and women’s programs and helping lead the programs to back-to-back national tournament appearances.

Throughout his career, Eric has also worked with athletes through organizations and clubs including FC Dallas, Dallas Kicks, Rush, and Sporting United.

His work has included athletes of different ages, sports, performance levels, and competitive goals.

THE MISSION

Today, Eric is the founder of First Move Academy.

His mission is bigger than simply making athletes faster or stronger.

First Move Academy develops the complete athlete through performance training, strength, mobility, discipline, confidence, mentorship, accountability, character, leadership, and personal development.

Eric believes athletes should be prepared not only to perform at a high level, but to succeed in life beyond their sport.

That philosophy is what led him to become part of the Jock Wealth Army.

Through Jock Wealth, Eric connects current and future college athletes to resources, education, and infrastructure designed to help prepare them for financial, business, NIL, branding, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities beyond competition.
